Jewellery well taken care of would come for a lifetime. All they need is little extra care and little time to keep them bright and lustrous always.
I remember my Mother asking to take care of my jewelry when I was in my college days. But I never took her words seriously, I would complain her most of the times when my jewelry went missing and she would come to my rescue like a superwoman. Well, moms are meant for that. I love their multitasking skills.
Let’s come back to our Jewellery Care Tip Ideas. As I grew up I realized how important it was to preserve the junk jewelry for them to last long and keep them bright, lustrous and new always. It was when I decided to take some serious care of them before I lose them with time.
“Store your Jewellery Properly”, was my Mother’s first rule. I managed to collect some plastic boxes at home and started to store my junk jewels in the box. I managed to pick a plastic box with small partitions so that I could stack my jewelry separately. I made sure delicate earrings with stones and pearls were kept on a piece of cloth/sponge. The partitions in the box made sure that the earrings didn’t collide with each other and the search/discovery of earrings was easy and fast.
The next piece of advice I got from my Mom was when I got decked up to functions.
She would ask me to wear my jewelry at the end when I’m done with my makeup, perfume and dress. This comes like a quick fix to most of the problems. The chemicals in the makeup, perfume would react with the metal in the jewelry leading it to lose its luster and the jewelry coating would chip from the piece of jewelry causing it to tarnish. So the second point becomes clear and here goes the rule, “Your Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off”.
She asked me to remove my earrings when I’m off to sleep. It is sure to damage your earrings or even break it. Besides, damaging your jewellery it could injure and scratch your skin too. The green traces left on the skin( specially by fashion finger rings) are due to chemical reaction between the metal and the acidity of the skin. The sweat will naturally tend to aid the reaction process and make it intense. So keeping all this in mind, it is best to avoid fashion jewellery during sleep, exercise and even when in the beach side or the pool area.
